Valentin Cassadine Part 5
January 2024 - July 2026

Valentin Cassadine spent years running Pikeman Security Group behind everyone's back, and by early 2024 the lie was starting to collapse under him.
It started with an old friend nobody knew he had. Jack Brennan and Valentin had been running Pikeman together since their WSB academy days, long before Brennan ever showed up in Port Charles as a threat. When Sonny Corinthos became a target, Valentin's plan didn't involve hired guns waiting in the shadows. He had already gone to Sonny's pharmacist and had his bipolar medication cut down to almost nothing, then planted Jason Morgan on the sniper crew under a fake name specifically to blow the hit up from the inside. He even planted the idea in Sonny's head that a mystery enemy named Stone was behind it all, so Pikeman would never come up.
Anna Devane had no idea any of it was true. She spent months searching Valentin's house every morning while he cooked breakfast, working with Jason behind the scenes, letting Valentin believe she still trusted him completely. She found a satellite phone hidden behind a bookshelf. She pieced together five years of forged emails he had planted to point suspicion anywhere but at himself. When she finally had enough, she told him herself, straight to his face. "I turned you into the FBI as head of Pikeman," she said. "You're going to have to leave the country immediately." He asked if any of what they'd had together had been real. She told him it was never about him. It was about Charlotte.
He asked her to come with him. She said no. Valentin and Charlotte Cassadine went on the run together. Lulu Spencer nearly caught up to them in Prague, slipping a tracker into Charlotte's purse before a sniper turned the reunion into a scramble to survive. Valentin got them out and ditched the tracker himself. The chase ended in Buenos Aires, where Valentin admitted to Charlotte that he had deliberately misled Lulu to protect them and told her it was time to say goodbye. Charlotte refused to leave him. He told her she belonged with her mother. Anna and Jason arrived just ahead of a WSB kill team, and Charlotte flew home with Jason while Valentin stayed behind, still on the run.
What followed was months of Valentin working alone against Brennan from the shadows. He laced a bottle of champagne meant for Brennan with plutonium, and Carly Corinthos drank it by mistake, collapsing into cardiac arrest before Brennan got the antidote to her in time. He broke into his own former house, now Sonny's, to retrieve fake passports hidden behind the fireplace, and Sonny caught him at gunpoint before letting him go. Brennan caught up to him at the docks not long after, and this time it was Anna who talked him down and called it in herself, telling him none of it mattered anymore, that he had to face justice.
Valentin was sentenced to life at Steinmauer. Before the transfer, he told Charlotte he loved her and asked Lulu to look after her. To Anna, all he said on his way out was "Till next time." Locked up that fall, he started bargaining with Brennan over video calls for scraps of information about something called Faison's Last Project, trading for a chance to see Anna, a trade Brennan never honored. Anna herself was later taken and held at Wyndemere without anyone knowing, pulled into the same conspiracy Valentin had been circling from his cell the entire time.
Back in Port Charles, Carly found out Josslyn Jacks had been pulled into the WSB and wanted her out. She went to see Valentin at Steinmauer posing as his attorney, and used the promise that Charlotte could visit more easily to convince Brennan to have him transferred back to the US. On Thanksgiving night, mid transfer, Valentin worked himself out of his restraints, grabbed a parachute, and jumped, landing somewhere outside Port Charles. He moved into Carly's attic on one condition: he would stay only until Anna came home. He and Charlotte built a signal system out of colored ribbons to communicate without anyone catching on, red for him coming home, blue for staying put, along with sign language for "I love you."
Months into hiding, Josslyn found him in the attic anyway, tied him up, and gave her mother twenty four hours to turn him in. Carly didn't. Instead, the two of them got pulled deeper into Brennan's orbit together, working an angle involving stolen documents, a sealed catacomb entrance at Wyndemere, and a blizzard that nearly ended with Charlotte lost in the storm. Somewhere in the middle of it, whatever was between Valentin and Carly stopped being about hiding him and became something else.
Anna's own path ran just as dark. She escaped custody in France once, only to be recaptured and moved to a maximum security facility. Valentin fell apart over the news and surrendered himself outright to try to save her and Joss both, calling it the only thing the WSB would actually accept. It took Josslyn cutting her own deal with a WSB contact to finally get him and Jason cleared for good.
By the time Valentin came home, the life waiting for him looked nothing like the one he left. Sonny wanted him gone and said as much to his face. Lulu was still putting together exactly who had been hiding him the whole time. Charlotte wanted to stay with her father without hesitation, whatever anyone else thought about it. And Anna walked past the Metro Court patio to find him with someone else entirely.
