Valentin Cassadine Part 3

October 2021 - May 2023

Anna Devane and Valentin Cassadine sitting close together in the back seat of a car at night on their first date.

Valentin Cassadine said goodbye to a baby girl he'd already fallen in love with, and a few weeks later he was kissing Anna Devane at midnight on New Year's Eve. That whiplash is where this stretch of Valentin's story starts, and it does not slow down from there.

The Bailey reveal hit first. Brook Lynn told Valentin the baby wasn't his, Chase turned out to be the biological father, and Valentin had to hand her back, giving her his oldest possession, a stuffed animal, before letting her go for good. He leaned on Anna in the aftermath instead of pulling away. By New Year's Eve at the Savoy, the two of them were together for real.

That's when Victor Cassadine, the uncle who'd spent months insisting he was actually Valentin's father, started pulling him deeper into his orbit. Valentin played along to keep an eye on him, cooperating just

enough to earn trust while quietly working against him. That cooperation got dark fast. Valentin resurfaced in French Polynesia under a fake identity, a French naval officer named Francois Olivier, and used it to frame Luke Spencer's former wife from decades back, Jennifer Smith, for murder and diamond theft, all on Victor's orders. He didn't know at the time that Anna would be the one to see through the frame job afterward, without either of them realizing the other's hand in it.

From there it only escalates. Victor conditioned Drew using a fake tarot card left over from Faison's old programming, chasing something called Operation Demeter buried in Drew's memory. Victor also engineered a fake rescue of Charlotte from Peter August just to look like the family hero, orchestrated a frame job that got Anna arrested for shooting Lucy Coe, and eventually chased Valentin, Anna, and Lucy into the Paris catacombs, where the three of them faked their own deaths in a flooded tunnel just to survive him.

Victor didn't stay fooled for long. Eileen Ashby, a mole feeding information to both sides, ended up paying for it with her life once Victor found out she'd been helping Anna. Not long after, Victor's men stormed the safe house where Valentin, Anna, and Lucy were hiding. Valentin handed over the real Ice Princess necklace to save Anna's life. Victor took it anyway and shot her.

That was only the beginning of what Victor actually had planned. What follows involves a hijacked ship, a bunker buried in Greenland, a pathogen forty years in the making, and Valentin walking straight into his father's lab looking for answers he was not prepared to hear.

We're leaving the ending right where it belongs, in the episode. Hit play to find out whether Valentin makes it out of that bunker, what it costs Anna to get him there, and how the whole Cassadine endgame finally comes apart.

Shannon and Amanda cover the entire stretch this week: the ELQ boardroom fallout, the growing list of people Victor used and discarded, and the choices Valentin made that finally pulled him out from under his father's shadow for good.
