Brook Lynn's Confession
Chase had been quietly questioning Brook Lynn about where she was the night of Curtis and Jordan's crash. Trina overheard enough of it to demand answers of her own, and by the time everyone gathered at the Quartermaine mansion, Brook Lynn stopped trying to hold the line.
She told the room she was the other driver, with Kai Taylor standing beside Trina as she said it. She said a car crossed into her lane; she swerved, and her BMW scraped the guardrail. When she checked her rearview mirror, the other car was gone, so she figured everyone had driven off fine and kept going to Charlie's to hear Gio perform. She said she didn't learn about the crash until the next day and never would have left if she'd known someone was hurt. Then came the real reason she'd stayed quiet: she and Chase had just been approved as Phoebe's foster parents, and she was afraid a hit-and-run investigation would cost them the placement.
Trina wasn't interested in the explanation. She told Brook Lynn that her silence was the reason Curtis attacked Isaiah Gannon and the reason Curtis is now in prison. Brook Lynn didn't argue the larger point, but she drew a line: "I can only own my actions, not your father's."
Chase left the party and went straight to the gatehouse to see Willow. He told her Brook Lynn was the other driver, and that Brook Lynn had also framed Willow for it months earlier, something Chase had known and hidden for weeks because he didn't want his wife to get in trouble. Willow offered to be there for him. Chase said he needed to figure out where he was even going to sleep that night. Hudson happened to be leaving Josslyn's apartment as Chase walked away from Willow's door.
The Quartermaines Respond
Ned sat with Brook Lynn and reminded her their family has a history of exactly this kind of cover-up, bringing up the accident he once took the blame for so Monica wouldn't find out AJ had been drinking. He was angry at Tracy for pushing Brook Lynn to keep quiet in the first place. Brook Lynn admitted she'd had her own doubts about Tracy's advice but made the call herself. Gio asked his mother point blank whether any of this happened because she was rushing to see him perform that night. Brook Lynn told him no, she just didn't know there had been a crash.
Trina and Kai went to the hospital together to break the news to Portia and Isaiah. She announced afterward that she was done pursuing a music career with Brook Lynn involved.
Tracy had asked Diane Miller to help Brook Lynn, but Diane wasn't available, so Alexis stepped in for her. Alexis went to ADA Justine Turner and laid out the facts: Brook Lynn's only real liability was the guardrail, a hit-and-run misdemeanor carrying a $250 fine. Turner agreed there was no case to build, but said as Jordan's friend that Curtis might never have gone to prison if Brook Lynn had come forward sooner. Tracy, meanwhile, quietly asked Alexis to represent Brook Lynn in a divorce instead.
Chase told Joe at the PCPD that the Ashford accident case could be closed, since the other driver was his own wife. Dante arrived and announced he was taking over as acting commissioner again, then asked Chase privately what he planned to do about his marriage. Ned walked in before Chase could answer and told him it was time to go save it.
Trina and Curtis Turn on Brook Lynn
Brook Lynn showed up at Trina's apartment to apologize. Trina shut the door in her face, then let her back in only to say her piece. She told Brook Lynn that her silence meant her father wouldn't know his newborn son for the next two years. Brook Lynn again said she could only answer for her own choices. Trina accused her of trying to buy her way out of guilt with the music career she'd arranged, and told her she'd taken something from her: now every time she tries to sing, she'll wonder if she has any real talent or if it was ever just Brook Lynn's guilt gift.
Jordan visited Curtis at Pentonville and told him Brook Lynn was the other driver. Curtis, who first had to break the news that Jenz Sidwell was now his cellmate, refused to believe it at first. Once Jordan gave him the details, he blamed Brook Lynn for the situation he's in.
Back at the mansion, Tracy pressed Alexis on how a divorce would affect custody of Phoebe. Alexis told her that Brook Lynn and Chase would split custody evenly, but that as long as the two of them stay legally married, anything Chase does with Willow still counts as infidelity and could be used against him later. Tracy decided the plan was to keep them married long enough for Chase to act on his feelings for Willow.
At the Metro Court Gardens, Ned pushed back when Chase told him this was a private matter between him and Brook Lynn. Ned brought up his own regret over letting Lois take Brook Lynn to Brooklyn without a fight, and told Chase he'd miss things with Phoebe he'd never get back. Chase asked how he was supposed to stay in a marriage built on lies. Ned told him to do the work instead of walking away.
Anna and the Gun on Mount Emerson
Anna lured Britt to a remote spot near Mount Emerson, telling her she had information about Cassius. Once Britt arrived, Anna had her on her knees on a tarp and pulled a gun on her.
Jason found them and tried to talk Anna down. Unseen by anyone else, Peter August was standing there in Anna's head, telling her Jason couldn't be trusted because he was in love with Britt, and that she needed to finish what she'd started. Anna asked out loud, "What if he's right? What if I am playing right into your hands?" She said she couldn't take the chance and had to end it. "I won't let you beat me," she said, then fired at the empty air where Peter stood. Jason threw himself over Britt to shield her. Anna just stood there shaking. Jason took the gun from her.
Once Anna had her wits back, she thanked Jason for showing up and finally told him who she'd been seeing. She said she had been hallucinating Peter August since she was held under Wyndemere, and that he was the one who told her to just tell the French doctors what they wanted to hear so she could get released. Jason stayed behind afterward to clean up the scene, picking up the spent rounds and keeping the shell casings for himself rather than leaving them behind.
Britt ran to Josslyn's apartment and demanded she call the WSB to have Anna locked up. Josslyn didn't believe her until Britt said Jason had witnessed it. Josslyn offered Britt a place to stay for the night while she tried to reach Jason herself.
Jason brought Anna to Emma, who could tell something was wrong right away. Anna asked Jason to leave so she could explain what happened on Mount Emerson to her granddaughter alone.
Anna Steps Down
Anna handed Dante her badge and gun the next morning, telling him she wasn't fit to serve. She said she'd been hiding how much the last several months had cost her, and that she planned to go back into therapy, though not as an inpatient. Dante agreed to act as commissioner again and, at Anna's request, promised to follow procedure no matter who was involved if Britt came forward.
Jason met Josslyn outside the Q boathouse and explained what Cullum had done to Anna by using her history with Faison against her. Josslyn admitted she had lied about what happened on Spoon Island to get Jason and Valentin released, not realizing it had also convinced Anna that Cassius meant her harm. Jason told Josslyn it was her own call whether to report what she'd witnessed to the WSB.
At the hospital, Britt snapped at Emma when Emma asked her to have some compassion for Anna. "You don't have the right to ask me for anything," Britt told her. Emma listed off Britt's own past, from the embryo theft to her work with Sidwell, and asked her to name one unselfish thing she's ever done. Britt told Lucas afterward that nobody seemed to care what had happened to her. He told her she makes it hard for people to care sometimes. Anna also apologized to Felicia for lying to her to get released early from the clinic in France, then went in for her first session with her new therapist, Dr. Nichols.
Britt later asked Jason to back her up in reporting Anna for attempted murder. Jason refused, telling her Anna needed help and not prosecution, and asked how Britt could push to have Anna locked up when she knew what being held captive had done to her.
The Search for Jack Brennan
Acting WSB Station Chief William Baines came to Carly's office asking about the last time she'd seen Jack Brennan. Carly walked him through the security breach at the hotel and the search of Brennan's room that Jason had found. Valentin insisted Brennan had simply cashed out and run rather than face reassignment. Baines wasn't convinced by either of them and pushed back on Valentin directly.
Carly then pointed Baines toward Nina, telling him about a public argument between Nina and Brennan over Willow, in which Nina had threatened to destroy him. Valentin was upset with Carly for putting Nina in the WSB's sights, feeling responsible since he was the one who'd introduced her to Brennan in the first place.
Elsewhere, Ava and Nina had lunch. Nina brought up that she hadn't heard from Brennan in days and admitted she wished their last fight over Willow had gone differently, because she genuinely liked him. Ava reassured her that a WSB agent going quiet for a few days wasn't unusual. Neither of them noticed Agent Baines watching from nearby.
Drew and Willow
Drew let himself into Willow's congressional office and told her that with Brennan out of the picture, she no longer had anything to hold over him. He threatened to tell everyone she shot him. Willow pointed out he had no proof and reminded him double jeopardy meant he couldn't touch her legally either way. Drew said it wouldn't matter, since half of Port Charles already believed the worst about him. Willow told him to go ahead and try.
Quick Notes
Scout and Rocco shared their first kiss and admitted they'd both been too nervous to say how they felt for fear of ruining the friendship. Scout snuck out to see him and left her phone behind at Sonny's. Drew spent much of the week trying to track her down, at one point yelling at Chelsea for not knowing where Scout hangs out with her friends. Scout eventually told Drew she'd been with Danny rather than admit she'd been with Rocco.
Ava kept up her cover story about the tick bite, telling Isaiah she must have picked it up petting a stranger's dog outside her gallery. She's more worried about the county health department getting involved than about the antibiotics keeping her off alcohol for now.
Hudson pushed Josslyn to relocate JJE's operations to Australia full time. Josslyn refused, and when Hudson suggested she was really just reluctant to leave the WSB behind, she didn't exactly deny it.
Port Charles Pipeline
Cheri wrote back in with a correction that Chase didn't know Brook Lynn was the one driving the car the night of the crash. What he knew, and what she'd already confessed to him weeks ago, was that she'd tampered with Willow's car to frame her.
On the awards front, Jeff Kober picked up a nomination for The Pitt, making him the first actor ever nominated for a primetime and a daytime Emmy in the same year. Those were actually the Creative Arts Emmys, handed out over the weekend of September 5 and 6, with an edited broadcast airing on FXX. The Primetime Emmys air Monday, September 14, and the Daytime Emmys aren't until October 30, so there's plenty more award season ahead.

Reality Check
Amanda's family spent Labor Day weekend at Cedar Point for her brother's company picnic, a full day out that doubled as a park visit. Madeline was the highlight of the day, fully obsessed with roller coasters and determined to ride every major coaster on the park's list, including the Steel Vengeance, without slowing down. At the picnic itself, Madeline and her friend went from winning two baskets last year to a $100 gift card this year, which they promptly spent on oversized sweatshirts, plus matching face and henna tattoos before everyone headed home.
Shannon had just as packed a weekend. She and her daughter ran a 5K mud dash together, obstacle walls, a rock-climbing net, ruined leggings, and lost shoes included, and crossed the finish line side by side. The next day she and JD used tickets a friend had given them to spend a day at Kennywood just the two of them, complete with potato patch fries and the Steel Curtain. Labor Day itself was a quiet pool day at home before the work week hit, which for Shannon meant handling real estate around watching the show, including getting a buyer's offer accepted and listing a new home. She also shared that her son applied to a job out of state in Cincinnati this week, the first time he's looked outside Pennsylvania, and that she's been quietly encouraging him to go for it even though she knows she'll miss him.
