You Know Who Else Was a Cop? The Golden State Killer
Updated: 19 hours ago
General Hospital Recap: August 17-21, 2026
This week, Lucas landed an apartment at Marina Towers, only for Lucy to show the very same unit to Detective Joe a short time later, seemingly without realizing it was already leased. Willow also moved back onto Quartermaine grounds, Kai finally stood his ground with her, and Curtis said his goodbyes before heading to Pentonville. Listen to this week's Pier 54 episode on Spotify, YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts.
Willow Moves Into the Gatehouse
Chase was out jogging when he noticed the gatehouse door open and found Willow already moving in, with Yuri helping carry boxes. Willow told Chase that Michael had pushed for the move so Wiley and Amelia could stay close to both of their parents, reminding Tracy that the kids are Monica's great-grandchildren. Tracy agreed to let her move back onto the estate.
After Yuri left for the main house, Chase stayed to help Willow unpack. She told him she wanted the kids to have a stable home base after a rough year, and Chase said he understood the impulse better now that he has Phoebe. Willow told him she and Chase share something, since they've both felt like outsiders in this family.
A minor crisis hit when Amelia's stuffed bear went missing during the move. Chase found it in the first box he opened, joking about using his detective skills before admitting it was luck. Brook Lynn came down to the gatehouse afterward with a flower to smooth things over, and Chase apologized for how the situation looked from the outside.
Lucas Finds an Apartment, and So Does Joe
Lucas told Ava he'd found an apartment at Marina Towers, a two bedroom on the water, and signed the lease that morning with Elizabeth's help, keys in hand. Ava was happy for him, but got emotional at the idea of him moving out, since she'll miss having him around to talk to. She agreed to come see the place for herself.
A short time later, Lucy showed the exact same unit to Detective Joe, apparently without realizing her own listing had already been leased that morning. Lucy told Joe that since he was there in person, doing an e-signature on her iPad would be the easiest way to handle the paperwork, and that she wasn't bothering with a background check since he's a detective. When the app had trouble letting her submit everything, she blamed a glitch rather than looking into it further. After he signed, Lucy left him alone in the unit to take measurements, reminding him it was her exclusive listing.
That wasn't the only place Joe's name came up this week. In his capacity as a detective, he also questioned Lucas about a statement Lucas had given regarding Willow leaving the Quartermaine estate the night of Curtis and Jordan's accident, pressing him on exactly how certain he was about the timing.
Josslyn and the Fight Over JJE
Josslyn asked Michael for help getting out of what she called the trap her parents had set for her: being pushed to take over Jax's company, JJE, after Carly told Jax that Josslyn had joined the WSB and been shot. Michael told her he couldn't back her up on choosing the WSB over the company, since as a parent he understands why Carly is scared, even if he disagrees with how she's handling it.
Lucas walked in on Carly talking to Hudson Parker, a JJE vice president, about pushing Josslyn toward the CEO job. Lucas pointed out that Josslyn is a lot like Carly, and asked how Carly feels when people meddle in her own life. He reminded her that Bobbie never meddled in her choices, because Bobbie knew interfering would only push Carly the opposite direction, and suggested Carly extend Josslyn the same trust.
Michael and Josslyn were talking at the boathouse when Hudson arrived with a shortlist of CEO candidates. Josslyn declined to review it herself and handed it to Michael instead, bringing him on as a consultant over Hudson's objection that the research was proprietary. Michael left shortly after.
A short time later, Chase and Brook Lynn brought Phoebe down to the boathouse and met Hudson for the first time. Josslyn congratulated them on finalizing the adoption, and the group spent some time together before Josslyn and Hudson headed to her apartment. There, while reviewing paperwork, Josslyn told him more about Phoebe, including that her birth mother had died shortly after giving birth and that her birth father had since been located and consented to the adoption.
Kai Stands His Ground
Kai went to the gatehouse to hand Willow his resignation in person rather than send an email. Willow warned him that going to the police would mean admitting to breaking and entering himself, and threatened to get lawyers involved if he kept making accusations against her. Kai told her he only came forward because she was trying to use the situation to keep Michael's kids away.
Kai then interrupted a meeting between Trina, Gio, and their label rep Simon to tell Trina the news in person, acknowledging he was interrupting something important. During that same meeting, Simon suggested marketing Trina and Gio as a real couple to boost interest in their music. Both refused, and Gio reassured Emma, who was also there, that she wasn't getting in the way of his music career. Emma had arrived with Quinn, a friend of Kai's.
At the Metro Court pool, Nina asked Brennan to dig up information on Michael to help Willow. Brennan told her she needed to let Willow face her own consequences instead of enabling her. Willow called Nina in distress after Kai's resignation, and Nina, arriving at the gatehouse, pointed out to Willow that she did, in fact, shoot Drew.
Sonny and Anna
Anna went to Sonny's house, and the two sat down to talk, starting with Emma and Gio's relationship and Sonny's decision to step away from the business. Anna opened up about her fight to get back to reality after believing Faison was still alive and holding her prisoner, saying it felt real while she was in it. Sonny told her he understands what it's like not to be able to trust your own mind. He then asked if she was in therapy, and when she said no, he encouraged her to consider it, sharing that he still goes even when things are good.
Later, at the Metro Court pool, Anna was sent a drink by Tristan Roberts, a doctor recently on staff at General Hospital. Anna asked him if medicine was a big change from being a field operative. He asked how she knew, and she pointed out that he'd already called himself a fan of her WSB career. Josslyn arrived partway through and asked who Anna's new acquaintance was. Anna later told Josslyn never to give so much of herself to a mission that she can't find her way back.
Jason and Britt
Jason attended a mandatory softball league meeting as ELQ's representative, telling Britt that Sonny bought him out of Corinthos Coffee after he said he was stepping away from the business. Britt was there representing GH, and both were annoyed at having to sit through the meeting.
Later, at the boathouse, the two traded stories about their time apart. Britt told Jason that Anna has quietly agreed to look into what happened to Cassius, asking him to keep it between them. She also thanked him again for saving Rocco, saying she'll always be grateful no matter what else happened while he was gone.
Josslyn arrived and confronted Britt in front of Jason over telling Cassius that Josslyn was a WSB agent. Britt didn't defend herself. After Josslyn left, Jason asked Britt directly about it, and she said she only meant to warn Cassius that Josslyn was investigating him. Jason pointed out that people have been hurt by his own choices too, and Josslyn separately told Jason she's alive because of Cassius, not because of him.
Curtis Says Goodbye
When Michael asked Curtis if he had any suggestions for who could take over running Aurora while he's away, Curtis recommended Jordan. After Curtis stepped out of the room, Michael formally offered Jordan the job, telling her he trusts her judgment on its own, not just because Curtis recommended her, and she accepted.
After Curtis left, Drew showed up asking Michael for a more prominent advisory role and an office. Michael turned him down and told Drew he got what he deserved for pursuing his wife. Jordan then stepped in with her first official decision as CEO, agreeing to let Drew be more involved after all. Once Drew left, she reassured Michael she was simply keeping her enemy closer.
Isaiah told Portia and Jordan he's dropping his civil suit against Curtis, given the promising prognosis for his hand, saying it could be a first step toward peace between the families.
Alexis and Curtis attended an addicts meeting together before he left for Pentonville. Afterward, Curtis said goodbye to Jordan, then to Trina and baby Desmond, with Trina singing to him as he left for prison.
Poolside at the Metro Court
Lucy told her daughter Serena that Michael is now single, hoping to steer her toward him, and brought up that unlike Michael's ex Jacinda, a former sex worker, Serena isn't a call girl. Serena pushed back, pointing out that courting Michael for Deception shares under false pretenses isn't so different, essentially asking her to be nice to a man for money. Serena said she'd rather find another way than lie to and take advantage of Michael.
Elsewhere at the pool, Nina and Brennan noticed Ava meeting with Drew about art from Sidwell's former holdings. Drew told Ava he plans to bid on some of Sidwell's properties now that Jason has stepped away from working with Sonny, and asked Ava, given her past closeness with Sidwell, to advise him. Ava agreed, pointing him toward specific pieces worth reselling later. Brennan later warned Ava about the company she's keeping.
Carly, Valentin, and Lulu
Valentin was cooking dinner at Carly's when Lulu arrived, having tracked Charlotte's phone, to confront him over letting Charlotte take Jason's boat out at night with Danny. Valentin defended Charlotte's independence and pointed out that Jason vouched for Danny as a safe driver. Lulu accused Valentin of not caring as long as it didn't interrupt his evening. Carly told Lulu to get a life, and Valentin asked her directly if she's dating anyone, suggesting she needs something to occupy her time. Carly backed him up.
After Lulu left, Carly said she needed to take her own advice and trust Josslyn's choices, admitting she made her own risky decisions at Josslyn's age. Valentin asked if she regretted any of them, and she said she wouldn't be who she is without them. He told her that makes it a success story, then asked her to remind him of everything she was saying about Josslyn in six years, when Charlotte is the age Josslyn is now. She asked if he meant them together or in general, and he said both. They kissed.
Ric's Proposal Plan
Ric showed Sonny an engagement ring, planning to propose to Elizabeth that night out of fear that waiting too long could mean losing her to someone else. Sonny questioned the timing and whether Ric had actually discussed marriage with Elizabeth at all, reminding him that his devotion to her has curdled into obsession before. Ric insisted he's changed.
Ric arrived at Elizabeth's with flowers and found Dante on her couch with an ice pack on his knee and no pants, after Dante hurt himself sliding into home during the same softball game and Elizabeth, a nurse, offered to look at it. Ric assumed the worst and left without letting Elizabeth explain. Dante and Elizabeth ended up sharing pizza and wine instead, with Elizabeth voicing frustration that Ric can't get past his own insecurities.
Quick Notes
Donna's Invitations. Donna worked on invitations for a family barbecue and wanted to include Justine, the ADA. Sonny told her Justine was too busy to come, but Donna kept an invitation for her aside anyway.
Sonny Visits Sidwell. Sonny went to Pentonville to tell Sidwell directly that he's stepped away from the business, prompting some back and forth about whether Sidwell believes he'll really be allowed to walk away.
Laura and Rocco. Laura is planning a visit to see Kevin, which is why she asked Rocco to house-sit while she's gone. She refused to let him pay her back for the favor.
Lulu Opens Up to Laura. Lulu told Laura she worries she'll never find love again. Laura pushed back, telling her she needs to actually put herself out there instead of only focusing on her kids and her writing.
Isaiah and Portia. The two spent their first night back at the cabin together since Desmond was born.
Port Charles Pipeline
Doug wrote in with Spotify links to two vintage GH spinoffs, Port Charles and Night Shift, that Shannon and Amanda had been searching for on their own for years. Turns out the links were there the whole time, hiding in plain sight.
Phyllis sent a note through the website suggesting the Pipeline segment move to right after the weekly recap and before Reality Check, so new listeners get to the main content faster. Shannon and Amanda are sticking with the current format for now, since fan mail often ends up shaping where the conversation starts, but they appreciated the feedback.
Cheri wrote in twice this week. First with a theory: what if Josslyn hands the JJE CEO job to Jason, and he brings Maxie back from Australia to run day to day operations? Second, she suggested another SORAS episode for Thursday, which turned out to be exactly what Shannon and Amanda had already planned.

Reality Check
Shannon went to the Pirates and Red Sox game on her Grammy's birthday, which would have been her 89th, and the Red Sox won 4-0. The game also came with a giveaway marking PNC Park's 25th anniversary. Later in the week, she and her daughter visited Phipps Conservatory's Alice in Wonderland display, which she highly recommends catching before it closes in September. Her husband's work fundraising gala also landed this week, which meant a lot of late nights on his end.
Amanda spent part of her week training for a new job. Madeline started school and had a good first three days, and the family celebrated with dinner and milkshakes at Burgatory. Amanda is hoping to pitch a night-at-the-races fundraiser to replace her usual cash bash, since she'd rather bet on funny horse names than sit around waiting for bingo balls.
This Thursday on the Port Charles 411
Thursday's deep dive is part two of the SORAS retrospective, covering more of the show's most dramatic rapid aging jumps. Given how many kids and timelines got reshuffled again this week, from Wiley and Amelia to Danny and Charlotte, this felt like the right week to pick this topic back up.
