Liesl Didn't Parent Trap This Kid

We are recapping the week of March 30 through April 3, 2026. A reveal we had been theorizing about for weeks finally happened, a funeral came and went in ways we would have liked to have seen more of, and we are now sitting on a theory about Ric Lansing that we spent the better part of the episode hoping out loud we are wrong about.

Sidwell and Nathan...er, Cassius?

Nathan left breakfast with James and Felicia and went to Wyndemere. We very quickly learned that he was not there as a cop. During the conversation, Sidwell stated he was not speaking to Nathan West at all. He was speaking to Cassius Faison.

We spent a significant amount of time working through what that actually means, specifically where this twin fits into everything we already know. Did Liesl know there were two babies? Did Faison? We are genuinely unclear on how Cassius exists in relation to everything we know about the Faison family history, and the show has not answered that yet. The questions are piling up faster than they are being addressed.

What we do know is that Cassius told Sidwell he came to him with this plan on his own initiative. He was not recruited. He was not reluctant. He specifically said that Maxie being out of the picture was convenient because if she had been awake, she would have immediately recognized he was not Nathan. He planned around her.

We looked up the name Cassius during the conversation, which may have been a mistake because it did not simplify things. In Julius Caesar, Cassius is driven by jealousy and resentment toward someone he considers his superior, and he is famously described as believing in shaping his own destiny. The name itself translates roughly to hollow or empty. Whether any of that was intentional on the writers' part is a conversation for another week. It did not slow us down.

Before the Funeral

Before Marco's service, Carly went to Sonny's to tell him and Ric directly that she did not think either of them should go. Her concern was Lucas. Sonny was going to that church with Sidwell, already convinced he was responsible for Marco's death, and felt like lighting a match and calling it a tribute. Ric argued that showing up would demonstrate Sonny had nothing to hide. Sonny pointed to the truce and the sale of the piers. Before she left, Carly asked Sonny what he would have done if Julian had shown up to Morgan's funeral. She walked out without changing either of their minds.

After Carly left, Sonny told Ric he wished he could have explained the real reason they needed to be there, but Ric said there was no reason for Carly to know about Sidwell's blackmail.

The situation had gotten more complicated when Laura came to Sonny's. Sonny and Laura had already been working together on the Sidwell problem, but this visit was different. Sonny had told Ric everything about Sidwell except for Laura's involvement. When Laura came by and Ric arrived, the three of them were together for the first time, and Laura disclosed to Ric directly that she was the other party being blackmailed. Ric was now fully in the picture. He advised Laura to hold a press conference, publicly distancing herself from Sonny to buy them some time with Sidwell.

The Funeral Itself

The actual service happened off camera, and we genuinely would have liked to have heard both Sidwell and Lucas speak. Ava told Lucas afterward that he had found the right words about Marco. That is how we found out there was an eulogy at all.

Before the service, Lucas stood at Marco's photo and urn and told him he would not die in vain. He and Sidwell had a quiet exchange, and Sidwell acknowledged he perhaps had not deserved the love Marco gave him. Kristina offered her condolences to Sidwell and reminded him that Marco saved her life when he ran into the fire (both unaware that the fire was Sidwell's doing). Laura showed up as mayor because it was the right thing to do. Ava was there. Lucy was there, told Lucas she hoped he was not leaving town, and mentioned she was available if he needed any help finding a new residence. Isaiah was there and used his time at a funeral to warn Jordan not to let herself get pulled any deeper into Sidwell's orbit. Jordan said she knew what she was doing.

Sonny and Ric went inside after the service, and Ric closed the door, looking Kristina right in the face.  

After the service, Carly offered Lucas a room at the Metro Court. He told her he was staying at Wyndemere. He said Jenz was the only other person who understood the emptiness of losing Marco, and that he needed to stay close. For now. Carly was not comfortable with that answer, and Lucas knows exactly what he is doing.

Pascal

Earlier in the week at Wyndemere, a drunk Pascal cornered Lucas in the study and unraveled completely. He accused Lucas of using Marco. He said he had seen Lucas sneaking around the castle and listening in on conversations. He charged at him, backing him against the wall, yelling that Lucas was the one who should be dead instead. Then he stormed out crying. Lucas was left alone in the room, shaken by the whole thing.

The Theory We Do Not Want to Be Right About

The theory is this: Ric may be working for Sidwell. He has positioned himself as Sonny's closest advisor. He knows everything now, including Laura's involvement with Sidwell's blackmail. Every piece of advice he has given has moved Sonny further into exposure rather than away from it. Ric came back to Port Charles shortly after Lucky escaped from Sidwell's compound. 

This week, Ric went to GH to get an update on Cullum from Liz. She was reluctant, assuming he was there to use the information against Jason somehow, given the history between the three of them. He worked on her, drawing a deliberate single tear down his cheek. She quietly confirmed that Cullum was expected to make a full recovery. He also told her he would not go after Jason because Jason matters to her, so Jason matters to him. He was also the one who closed the door behind Sonny when they walked back into that church to face Sidwell.

We are not saying this is definitely what is happening. We are saying that when we laid all of it out, none of us could argue our way back out of it. If we are right, Liz is the one who pays for it.

She always is.

We genuinely hope we are wrong.

Britt and Lucas

Lucas knocked on Britt's office door and filled her in on Cullum waking up, while she was already showing visible signs of her Huntington's progressing. Britt wanted him to blame her for Marco's death, but Lucas blamed himself instead, feeling he never should have gotten involved in the situation surrounding her medication and that putting Marco in a position where he had to prove his loyalty cost him his life. Then they started piecing it together. Britt told Lucas everything about Cullum attacking her on the pier and destroying her medication, and together they worked out that the only way Cullum could have known she would be there was by reading the texts on Marco's phone, which meant Cullum killed Marco. Then came the part that broke him: he had operated on and saved the life of the man who murdered his boyfriend. He had a panic attack, and Britt sat with him through it. Later in the week she cut through his guilt spiral with the line that he was the most selfless person she knew and that his goodness had, on more than one occasion, been super disgusting. His decision to move into Wyndemere is not grief. It is strategy, and gathering concrete proof of Cullum being a double agent is now the driving force, one that could mean justice for Marco and potentially a path to freeing Jason.

Quick Notes

Danny got suspended for a week after getting into a fight at school. Another kid said he was glad Jason was gone. Alexis told him she understood being furious, but that fighting would not bring his father back. He asked her if she could. He, Rocco, and Charlotte ended up on the footbridge this week, which is Jason's spot, and the three of them sat with the weight of everything their parents have put in motion.

Rocco is barely holding it together emotionally. At Bobbie's, he opened up to Gio about how much it bothered him that Danny might never get his father back. Gio told him that being there for Danny was enough for now and that Jason had made it through impossible situations before. Then Rocco accidentally spilled a drink on his bandage and rushed to the bathroom just as Lulu walked in. When he came out, she asked about his hand. He told her he was fine, just feeling guilty about everything that happened. She told him it would all work out.

The Willow situation took an unexpected turn. Kai had mentioned at the house that a phone ringing in the living room would carry to the bedroom. Trina had identified Wiley's specific ringtone. Willow started connecting those two things while she was home, talking to Drew, realizing Kai had a key to the house and that Wiley had called her the night of the shooting. Drew's eyes widened as she talked it through. It had seemed like he might have still been holding on to some version of events where Willow had not done it, and hearing "Twinkle Twinkle" come up appeared to close that door. Willow then went to the office, stood in the hallway, and heard Trina tell Kai she hated that everyone thought Michael had shot Drew when they both knew it was Willow. Michael had also been at the house visiting Drew and noticed the blinking. Nina brushed it off. Michael kept watching. Will Michael be the one to save Drew? And will Drew help him win full custody of the kids? 

Brad visited Britt and said he was thankful the WSB had taken Jason away before he could abandon her. She slapped him across the face. He came down off the moment and asked her to tell him what actually happened. She did, including that Jason told her to say she shot Cullum, even though she was unconscious and did not see anything. Britt also told him she had the chance to kill Cullum but could not. Brad helped her think through who Jason might actually be protecting.

Brook Lynn and Chase were talking in the foyer with their foster care social worker when Wiley walked in and asked what a hooker was, because Olivia had used the word in the next room. The two of them explained it calmly, age-appropriately, and without missing a beat. The caseworker seemed to have no problem with this. They were less composed when Michael mentioned that Wiley had apparently also told her he loved playing Tron with hookers.

Cody won a raffle at the pet store in Beecher's Corners, which is where he regularly takes Princess Pie (Outback). The prize was a trip for two, leaving the following weekend. Molly told him she is a vegetarian and had no interest in the fishing portion of the itinerary. They landed on snorkeling. She moved up her endometriosis surgery and came out of anesthesia, telling Cody he was no longer allowed to wear long sleeves. He told her it was not a dream. She did not believe him. When she woke up fully and realized it had all happened, she was mortified. He threatened to check whether it had gone viral. They were eating animal crackers and juice and talking about the trip when we left them.

Carly went to Brennan and asked him to help get Jason back. He told her the WSB was not giving him up. Her response was that she was tired of the WSB taking people she loves. She was not only talking about Jason.

Port Charles Pipeline

Cheri wrote in twice this week. Her first email raised the question of whether Joss is really someone who can say she knows how Lucas feels, given that her own boyfriend was also killed. Her second email arrived shortly after clarifying that the show did address it and she should have waited until the end of the episode before hitting send. We understand completely. Piper, who came back to GH during the pandemic after about thirty years away, wrote in to say the Rick and Liz two-parter convinced her that Liz is too clear-headed for this to make sense and that there must be other options in Port Charles. Kim sent a wonderful anniversary note that got us thinking about putting together a mega-recap episode for our ten-year anniversary when the time comes. Beth went to a fan event and sent photos. Michael, Molly and Kristina were together, and they looked wonderful.

Reality Check

Amanda had a full birthday week. Megan's birthday landed on the same day as Madeline's dance competition, which required some navigation. Matt's birthday was Tuesday and his girlfriend made him a cake. Amanda also turned in her leased car, said a sincere goodbye to it, and drove home in a gray car named Grayson. She and Ryan argued at the dealership about the car's gender. 

Shannon took two zoo trips in one week, one of which included the Pittsburgh Zoo's animatronic dinosaurs, now scattered throughout rather than in their own separate section. Easter is Sunday. 

Coming Up on the Port Charles 411

Thursday we are kicking off a series on Diane Miller. Twenty years in Port Charles, the sharpest attorney in the building, and the woman who has stood by Sonny's side through more legal disasters than anyone should have to. Lately Sonny has been handing his more complicated dealings off to Ric, a man who has backstabbed him more times than we can count on one hand, while Diane gets kept at arm's length and pointed toward the legitimate side of the business. If you have been watching this show long enough to know what Diane brings to the table, you already understand why that decision is maddening.
